the site scrape...

started yesterday! They've managed to shatter our storm water pipe. Great! Hopefully it doesn't get blocked.

the laundry light...

After much debate, the Geneve light will have to go in the WIR instead of the laundry. There is a chance that it will get mouldy, even without a dryer in the room. Sooooooo... option two is this pretty little Grace fitting. It's completely plastic!

the new lights (remainder of)...

Just incase anyone was worried that I hadn't shopped for a little while... here's some new purchases from Beacon!!

Our new Geneve light for the laundry - I had pretty much made my mind up on getting the Vogue (if you all remember my WIR pendant dilemma issue)... then I walked into Beacon and HAD to have this one instead!

We searched high and low for a pool light, even found the Beacon Eclipse (discontinued style)... they had one available in Darwin, but when it came time to double check it before packing it and shipping it to us, they found it had rusted in too many places because it hadn't been packed correctly in their warehouse!! Grrr... nevermind, we found a pool light that's a little not like what a normal pool light looks like... but when are we ever normal?

Two of these little babies will be flipped upside down for the ensuire mirror (above). See how they match the pool light? There's a theme happening here
And... these babies, one each will go on the bathroom, and ensuite ceiling. Toying with the idea of also under the alfresco and front porch.

the numerology of house numbers...

Someone posted this link on the Homeone forum.

This is the numerology of house numbers- http://www.miltonblack.com.au/num/housenumbers.htm

We're number 23, so 2 + 3 = 5. So we're a number 5 house.

A Number Five house conduces to bring about the interplay of thoughts and emotions, usually harmoniously. It is a place where people often visit just to exchange ideas or gossip. Solidarity and stability are the main factors that one would encounter a Number Five house and the house seems to stand up against the rigors of time and usually requires little maintenance.

People who live in this house usually set themselves apart from others and take a rather detached view of life around them; others may think the occupants are snobs or tall poppies. There is always plenty of activity in a Number Five house but the activity usually involves intellectual subjects such as communications, writing, science, media or business. Everybody who lives in a Number Five house wants to be mobile, so there are frequently many motor vehicles parked outside, or the occupants travel a great deal.

Despite the stability of the house the occupants seem to have a sort of restlessness, which causes them to have many irons in the fire, an almost endless stream of visitors and frequent parties or open house. It is not the type of house for the nervous or highly-strung. Residents never seem to stay too long in a Number Five house and could move during the first five years of occupancy. Watch extravagance, stress, blood pressure, and ear, nose and throat problems. You may become an insomniac whilst living at this address.

the final drawings...

Received our final drawings in the mail today! Woohoo!!!

But no woohoo for them sneaking in a variation for us to sign for Technika appliances when they already agreed to keep the D'Amani. Even our rangehood which was Beaumatic, they had changed to Technika! I spoke to our admin, she was very apologetic, she hadn't double checked the paperwork as someone else mailed it out. She's going to scrap that variation and send out the correct one asap. Yay. Problem solved.

Other variations:-
  • Boral Mocha bricks in lieu of Selkirk Muscat Haze $1700 - tick
  • Relocate tv point and double power point in master suite to 1900mm from floor - tick
  • Relocate man hole in Laundry to LHS of door in lieu of RHS side of door - tick
  • Provide soundscreen internall wall insulation to all internal walls $1365 - tick
